North Park Marks Seen Enough Tobacco Day

October 12, 2017 @ 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm

Free

Reality Check youth from North Park Middle School will put their mark on community health by Chalking the Walkways near their school on Thursday, October 12 from 2:30 to 4 p.m.

Advocates will also put up a pinwheel display with 77 black pinwheels, and use lawn signs to represent the number of smokers who die in New York State every day from smoking. They will also mark the terrible toll tobacco takes on their peers by posting this message: “Stores near schools display 3x the amount of tobacco advertisements”.

The display will stay up through Friday the 13th.

Youth across New York State are declaring Friday, October 13 as the first ever “Seen Enough Tobacco Day” to protect themselves and other children from the billions of dollars of tobacco promotions in places where they and other youth can see and be influenced by them. The goal is to put an end to youth smoking and other tobacco use.
