Tobacco Kills: Lockport Proves It With Pinwheels

October 11, 2017 @ 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm

Free

Youth across New York State are declaring Friday, October 13 as the first ever “Seen Enough Tobacco Day” to protect themselves and other children from the billions of dollars of tobacco promotions in places where they and other youth can see and be influenced by them. The goal is to put an end to youth smoking and other tobacco use.

On Wednesday, October 11, Tobacco-Free Erie-Niagara and Reality Check of Erie and Niagara will take part in Seen Enough Tobacco Day at Lockport High School. Advocates will create a sidewalk chalk display, create a pinwheel display, and use lawn signs to represent the number of smokers who die in New York State every day from smoking. The lawn signs will be placed near the football field during the school’s Spirit Week to highlight shocking tobacco marketing statistics. This display will stay up through the high school’s football game on Friday.
