Reality Check of Western New York announced winners of this year’s student art contest in honor of the Great American Smokeout (GASO) 2020. More than 30 students expressed their feelings about Big Tobacco and how tobacco and vape use impacts their community.

Warsaw High School student artist Payton Howe was named the first-place winner in the poster category.

The bold messaging, bright color strokes and focused artistry in this poster struck the judging panel.

Second place was awarded to Jerzie Smith of Falconer High School in Chautauqua County.

Falconer High School student Jerzie Smith submitted a piece on being impacted by tobacco use on a personal level.

Selena Leonard of Fillmore High School was awarded first place is the poem category for a piece titled “Smoke Out.”
